Stupid!

So yesterday, I got to take four of my daughters out on a date together. The soon-to-be-two-year-old stayed with mom and the boy. The rest of us GOT TO GO see the Hannah Montana movie. Now, I would try to convince people that it wasn't my idea but really, I know that my girls are just as caught up in her hype as most tweeners so suggesting it first wins my brownie points. Now, in no way am i doing a review of the movie...lol...I mean really who would care what a 36-year-old father of six thought of it.

Disclaimers out of the way, I was caught off guard by it's daddy-daughter sentimentality. I sat next to my oldest, who is closer to growing up than being my little girl, which was basically the plot of the movie. Ironically, it hit me there while watching, that my daughters will someday all grow up and become their own person. I can only hope that in someway, I have become a value to them and that they will want to continue to have me as part of it. I mean, I think every dad feels that way to a certain extent, but I think I may have it a little too deeply embedded.

At one point, in the movie, Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray sing a duet called, "Butterfly Fly Away". I sat there and thought about all the experiences that I have shared with my girls, boogie-mans scared away, scratched knees kissed and carrying them to their beds fast asleep...and right there while thinking all those pleasant thoughts, something flew right into my eye and caused it to start tearing up...ruined the whole experience.

Stupid movie! ;-P
